General Motors will introduce a third electric model to the Chevrolet lineup, one that's said to be based on the Chevy Sonic and will travel 200 miles on a single charge.

GM global product boss Mark Reuss confirmed Chevrolet's plan for a new EV last week, reports Automotive News. Although he didn't give a timetable for the new car's arrival, two sources familiar with the matter claim it will be an EV based on the current Chevrolet Sonic. Expect the new car to arrive in 2017, the sources said.
