Chevrolet dealers soon will see the sixth-generation Camaro on their lots.

General Motors said Monday the first wave of 2016 Camaros will leave the company’s assembly plant in Lansing, Mich., by the end of the week. The cars should arrive at dealerships for customer delivery by mid-November.

GM said the first Camaros to be shipped will be 6.2-liter, V-8-engine-powered SS coupes and 3.6-liter, V-6 engine LT coupes.

Production and shipment of the convertible and models with a 2.0-liter turbo engine will follow in early 2016.

Chevrolet is offering six all-new powertrain combinations, from the standard 275-hp, 2.0-liter turbo to the 455-hp LT1, 6.2-liter V-8 in the SS. Each engine is available with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.

The new Camaros will arrive a little bit lighter -- weight has dropped by between 223 and 390 pounds, Chevrolet said.

Pricing on the 1LT model starts at $26,695, and the 1SS starts at $37,295. The prices include shipping.

Chevrolet expects V-8 models to account for the vast majority of sales in the first year.
