“As our vehicles are the source of our most significant environmental impact, it is vital that we focus on improving the environmental performance of each product,” explained John Viera, global director of sustainability and vehicle environmental matters for Ford Motor Company. Today, Ford released its 15th annual Sustainability Report for 2013/2014, and in a wide-ranging interview with Viera, we discussed the evolution and impact of Ford’s environmental commitment, milestones of progress and innovation, leadership lessons, and much more.

Since January 2007, John Viera has been responsible for developing global sustainable business plans and policies, interfacing with global regulatory bodies, reporting externally on the company’s environmental and social performance, and leading Ford’s engagement and partnerships with non-government organizations (NGOs) and other key stakeholders.
