Jeep's global ambitions could provide a spark for other manufacturers to redevelop the land where the original Willys-Overland Jeep was made.

The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority is preparing to break ground in April on Overland Industrial Park -- a 111-acre site where Willys-Overland Motors operated for decades. From 1888 to 2006, the property was home to Toledo's century-old automobilemanufacturing hub, Toledo Jeep.

"That is the historic home for all of the Jeeps that have been built since the early 1900s," said Matthew Sapara, chief operating officer of the port authority. "Everyone in this community has some type of relationship to that parcel. Either they themselves worked there, or friends or family members worked there."
