To meet stricter fuel economy standards, Chrysler Group will update its Pentastar V-6 lineup with turbocharging and direct injection.

Expect to see the change beginning in late 2015, when a refreshed Jeep Grand Cherokee debuts with an upgraded 3.6-liter V-6. Part of Chrysler's strategy may include turbocharging on engines that are now naturally-aspirated, according to a report from Automotive News.

The following year, a new-generation Chrysler Town & Country will come equipped with a 3.2-liter V-6 that will replace the current model's 3.6-liter engine. The new engine will be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, which should help the minivan achieve a 25-percent improvement in fuel economy over its current 17/25 mpg city/highway EPA rating, along with improved aerodynamics and a reduction in weight.
